Splitting a List

Segmenting a list into two or more parts can be a useful way to discover which version of your email receives the highest click-through rate or highest unique open rate.

To split a list, you'll use the Dynamic List interface.  You'll have the options to simply split a list into multiple parts or split a dynamically generated list into multiple static lists.

Split a List into 2 Parts

  1. Open the Subscribers & Lists folder and click Lists
  2. Click the Add List button at the top of the grid and then select the type Dynamic
  3. Select the list you want to split
  4. You don't need to define any rules
  5. Click Save Rules
  6. Click Create Static List in the bottom right corner
  7. Enter a name for the lists ("Part 1/2" and "Part 2/2" will automatically be added to this name for each list)
  8. Select yes, into 2 parts from the Split List drop down menu

  9. If you would like to randomize how the lists are split, select Randomize from the drop down menu
  10. Click Create New Static List
  11. The lists are now saved in the Lists folder
