Can I use Animated GIFs or Flash in Email Messages?

The short answer is, you can use animated GIFs, although some email clients will not fully support them – specifically Outlook 2007, 2010 will just show the first frame of the GIF.

Almost all email clients will not support flash of any kind.  This policy among email clients is generally due to security and privacy risks.
